Talkbiznow is a social network intended for businesses and professionals. Users can list their productivity services on Talkbiznow and seek out those offering the services they need. Member profiles give users another place to publicize their titles, careers and work history. The user can manage contacts and import them from Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and Hotmail address books. The user can also upgrade their profile status by filling out other areas of their profile, such as favorite links, capabilities, pictures, interests, contacts or by joining a Talkbiznow network. The website also offers Twitter integration so the user can access their Tweets without leaving the site. Talkbiznow was founded by CEO Martin Werner and chairman Mark Parker. The current team also includes Vice President and CTO Mike Duma, Vice President of Partnerships and Acquisitions Lynn Liss, Vice President and Head of Software Engineering Ollie Gash and Head of Customer Experience Jon Foster.
Talkbiznow provides users with many tools to network and build another professional profile. The concept of the professional or business network is not a new one. There are many alternative sites users can choose from. However Talkbiznow offers users an extensive list of features that include blogs, contact lists and Twitter integration. The site has also recently added web store functions that allow the user to sell products and accept payment through Paypal.
Talkbiznow has a very low key, but professional design. The pale background is contrasted with hints of red in the logo and links. The website is very organized. The user dashboard includes links and resources organized into boxes that can be edited or closed. Five colorful tabs in the upper, right hand corner of the dashboard allow the user to access their work space, networking area, web store, available services and advertising opportunities. The user’s image is positioned in the upper, left hand corner along with a profile completion status bar.
A new user can sign up for a Talkbiznow account by filling out the small registration form presented on the homepage. The form asks for a first and last name, email address and password. After clicking the blue “Join Now” button at the bottom of the form, the user is asked to retype their email address and fill out a code to prove that they are human. After doing so, the user can click either the red “Start using Talkbiznow” button or the blue “Join and complete your profile” button below it. The user must check their email inbox for a confirmation message to complete registration.
Talkbiznow offers user accounts for free. There are no costs for creating an account or adding detail to it. Users can interact and participate in the community for free. The newer web store feature, however, does require the purchase of a web store package. There are three and five web store packages available. One month for three stores costs approximately $7 per month while three months is available for around $40 and an annual subscription can be purchased for around $76. One month of the five store package costs around $10, three months costs around $55 and one year costs approximately $110.
